Study Build Quick Start Guide

Last updated: December 12, 2025

This article walks you through the end‑to‑end workflow for creating and configuring a new study in Chloe, and points you to the detailed how‑to guides for each step. Follow the steps in the order below for the smoothest build experience.

1.  Create a Study

Set up and configure the study shell that will serve as the foundation for all of the other study components you build.

What You’ll Do

Where to Learn More

Create and name your study.

📄 Adding a New Study in Chloe

Create roles and assign permissions for team members.

📄 User Roles

📄 Managing Organization Users

Configure the study‑level metadata. This will help to ensure compliance, and aids in reporting work later in the study build and execution process.

📄 Update Study Info

2.  Build Study Forms

All participant‑facing content is created as Forms, and offer a variety of ways to acquire data from a participant, and present data to them.

Chloe Forms can be used to build Qualification Forms, Informed Consent, Data Sharing Agreements, Surveys, Questionnaires, Validated Instruments, Wearables Integrations, Instructions for Biomedical Samplings, and more.

Build, import or clone the forms you’ll need for your study.

Qualification forms and Intake forms have their own unique workflows that vary from general purpose surveys or questionnaires.

3.  Build Study Templates

Study Templates are used to organize your study forms together into an ordered timeline or schedule for your participants and study staff, based on your study protocol. Think of it as a calendar of events that will guide your participant through their study journey.

What You’ll Do

Where to Learn More

Create one or more Study Templates (e.g., one for Screening, one for Product Use, etc).

Create and configure Sections in the template that break the study down into multi-day components. For example, you might have on Section for Baseline, another for Product Use, and a final section for End of Study.

Create Events in the study template, one for each form you wish to use in this study.

Configure Events by attaching the desired form (Survey, instruction module, device sync card, etc), then specifying position and recurrence of forms within the template using relative days (Day 0, Day 7…) and delivery windows.

📄 Study Template / Schedule

Pro-Tip: Test as you go. Try adding in a single section with a single event, configure it, then test it using a test participant account on the mobile app. Build the study brick by brick, rather than assembling the entire schedule template then having to work backwards to uncover build errors.

4.  Configure Participant Study Screens

Design and configure what participants see in the "My Data" and "My Studies" sections of the mobile & web app.

What You'll Do

Where to Learn More

My Studies

Configure the participant study screen with results and study info cards

📄 My Studies - Participant Data Screen

My Data

Configure the participant wearables screens with custom study graphs

📄 My Data - Participant Data Screen

Good to know: All participant facing changes are hot‑swapped in real time. Participants see any changes or updates you have made to the study the next time they open the app.
